WSBK'09 Round 12 | Imola, race day
Team Sterilgarda had a very good second race in front of the Imola fans as Shane Byrne put on a great performance in a very spectacular race 2.
Shakey got a good start and climbed to fourth place right away. During the 21 laps of the race, he duelled with Simoncelli, Spies and Rea whom he fought until the end but eventually lost. He however finished the race battling with Jonathan Rea's factory Honda who was just less than a second faster than him. In race 1, Byrne crashed after 8 laps without consequences in the Tosa chicane
SHANE BYRNE | Ducati 1098R | retired, 7th: "I'm sorry for race 1. I really wanted to do well, especially for the team on their home track. That's why I was even more determined at the start of race 2. I did climb a few positions but unfortunately the factory bikes were very strong and that's basically the reason I couldn't finish on top.
Now we're going to Magny-Cours where we can definitely do well".
